Delete your SideBets account
You can request deletion without reinstalling SideBets or signing in. This page covers the shared account used by the SideBets apps and website.
Request account and data deletion
Email dev@sidebets.me with the subject SideBets account deletion request. Include the email address or phone number associated with your account and your username, if you know it.
Email a deletion requestThe button opens your email app; you still need to send the message. If it does not open, use any email service to write to the address above. Do not send your password, sign-in codes, payment details or private challenge photos.
What happens next
- A saved request begins review; it is not confirmation that your account or data has been deleted. Ask for an update if you need help understanding its status.
- We verify that the request belongs to the account owner before deleting information. Sending from your account email can help; if you cannot access it, tell us so we can review another way to verify ownership. An email alone does not automatically delete an account.
- We review open challenges and records that may need to remain, then confirm the result and explain any information retained. You can also ask for a review of particular data without requesting deletion of the whole account.
Delete from your signed-in account
In the updated app, open Profile → Delete account, review the consequences, then confirm deletion. On the website, open your profile. The final confirmation starts permanent removal; signing out or uninstalling does not.
Unfinished shared challenges close without a winner. Reserved SideBucks are returned under their existing rules, and the departing account’s wallet closes. SideBucks are play money, not a cash balance or payment service. Other players keep their completed scores and results.
The app keeps a private recovery record before sending your confirmation. If deletion is interrupted, use its recovery control to continue and check the result, even if your sign-in has already been removed. Treat processing or retry messages as incomplete. Only the completion message confirms server deletion. An earlier saved request by itself does not start removal.
What successful deletion removes
The current deletion process removes the sign-in account and live profile, uploaded avatar files, authored challenge-evidence images, friendships and blocks, memberships and live participant links. Account-owned notifications, push tokens and private saved settings are removed along with the profile. Private scorecards without other account participants are removed; shared cards may remain archived for their existing participants. Authored chat messages and direct conversations involving the account are also removed; a group conversation can continue for its remaining members.
When account deletion is confirmed in the mobile app, it also attempts to clear that account’s local Toolkit work, history and pending snapshots on that device. Ordinary sign-out retains this local data. If cleanup is interrupted, follow Retry device cleanup and any instructions to keep the app open until retry succeeds. This preserves other accounts and unattributed legacy device setups; it does not erase data on other devices or backups.
What can remain
Other participants’ shared records remain. The deletion process replaces identity-labelled names and contact fields associated with your account with “Deleted player.” Completed scores, outcomes and receipts remain, with an audit record of the privacy change. Opaque participant identifiers and proof digests may remain to keep those records consistent; these are retained records, not a claim that every record is anonymous.
Existing collaborators can retain archived shared scorecards and brackets. Ownership can transfer to an existing participant. Free text that someone entered into challenge terms, captions, messages retained by a recipient or other descriptions is not automatically guessed and rewritten. Contact us to review identifying text that remains.
Evidence subject to a recorded moderation or report hold can remain restricted for that review. SideBucks ledger history can remain after the private wallet closes. Copies shared outside SideBets are controlled by their recipients. Provider backups and operational records may have separate retention schedules.
Recovery status, privacy-change audit records and protected shared history do not currently have a fixed automatic expiry. Ask us to review retained information relating to you; we will explain the result and any reason for retaining it. Deletion does not establish a fixed erasure date for every historical record or backup.
Sign in with Apple
Updated sign-in flows securely save the Apple authorization needed to revoke SideBets access during deletion. Where that authorization is available, deletion revokes it before reporting completion. The iPhone app also offers Apple authorization preparation before deletion without switching your SideBets account.
Older accounts may have no saved Apple authorization. They can still delete their SideBets account. If the completion screen asks you to remove Apple access, open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple and select SideBets. Removing Apple access alone does not delete your SideBets account.
Read Apple’s removal instructionsIf deletion is interrupted
Treat deletion as incomplete until SideBets confirms it. An error can occur after some cleanup has already taken place. Use the saved recovery control to check again. If it cannot finish or you have lost access to that device, email us rather than assuming everything was removed or restored.
Read the SideBets privacy policy for more about information use and your choices.
